Why we made this

Day one.

Most businesses buy these tools in year three, after they've learned the hard way what a missed call and a forgotten quote cost. Yours starts with them switched on, before the first customer rings.

Every lead.

In your first year every enquiry is worth more, because each one can become a regular, a review and a referral. The box makes sure each one is answered, written down, chased and thanked.

One price.

£250 for the whole year. Not a month, not a seat, not a setup fee. All three tools, set up with you on one call and kept running until your first birthday. Then you decide what to keep.

What's in the box

The same three tools our established clients pay for every month. Nothing cut down, nothing “lite”. Open the box and all three are running.

Signal: the phone, answered

A receptionist that picks up every call in under three seconds, day or night, in a voice callers take for a person. It knows what you do and what you charge, books the job into your diary during the call, and puts urgent callers straight through to your mobile. Every call recorded and written up in your inbox. 200 minutes a month included.

Usually £99 a monthIn the box

Nexus: every customer in one place

Calls, texts, emails and WhatsApp in one inbox on your phone, one thread per customer. Quotes get chased, appointments get a reminder, and happy customers get asked for a Google review, without you remembering to. One seat included, which is you.

Usually £50 a seat, a monthIn the box

Google: found first

Your Google Business Profile set up properly from the start, or audited and fixed if you've already made one. Then run for you every month: photos, posts, services, hours, and every review replied to in your voice. For a new business this is the page most customers will ever see.

Usually £99 a month · local.macaws.aiIn the box

Also in the box: the 20-minute setup call, a named person you can message when something needs changing, and a one-page summary each month of the calls, messages and Google visits that came in.

£250. Once. For the year.

Here is the same box priced the way everyone else pays for it, and what you pay instead. We can do this because a business that starts with us tends to stay with us, and we'd rather earn that in year two than charge for it in year one.

Your first year, with the box open.

12 months · then it's your call
Week 1 · Open the box

One 20-minute call. By the end of the week the phone is answered, the inbox is on your phone and your Google profile is set up properly.

Months 1 to 11 · Trading

Calls booked while you work. Quotes chased on their own. Reviews landing on Google. A one-page summary each month so you can see it happening.

Month 12 · Your call

We send you the year's numbers: calls answered, jobs booked, reviews earned. You keep all three at the monthly prices, keep one, or stop. No contract, no auto-renew.

From “we've just started” to live, in a week

You don't install anything or learn anything. You tell us about the business, we set it up, you check it, it goes live, and we keep it running for the year.

  1. Tell us

A 20-minute call. What you do, what you charge, where you work, and where calls should go. We check you're in your first year, and that's the only paperwork.

Day 1 · 20 minutes of your time
  2. We build it

Signal learns your business from the call and your website if you have one. Nexus is set up with your diary and the follow-ups you want. Your Google profile is created or fixed.

    Days 2 to 4 · our team
  3. You check it

Ring the number and talk to it. Send yourself a test enquiry. Read the follow-up messages. Tell us what to change, in a text if you like, and we change it.

Day 5 · you, ten minutes
  4. Go live

Your number is pointed at Signal, always or only when you can't answer. The inbox goes on your phone. Your Google profile goes live. The box is open.

    Day 7 · live
  5. Kept running

Every month for the year: the receptionist tuned from real calls, posts and photos on Google, reviews replied to, and a one-page summary. Change your prices or hours? Message us.

Who the box is for

New businesses whose customers will ring, message and search for them, run by someone who'll be doing the work themselves for a while.

A good fit if…

  • You registered your company, or started trading as a sole trader, in the last twelve months
  • You'll be on the tools, in the chair or behind the counter when the phone rings
  • Your customers will find you on Google and call or message you
  • You'd rather spend the year on customers than on software
  • You like knowing the whole year's cost up front

Not the right fit if…

  • You've been trading for more than a year. The same three tools are on macaws.ai at their monthly prices
  • You need several people in the inbox from day one, though extra seats can be added at £50 a month
  • You want a full call centre with scripts, queues and a hundred lines

Questions new owners ask first

The honest answers, including what happens after the year. Anything else, ask us on the call.

Who counts as a new business?

Anyone who started trading in the last twelve months. For a limited company that's the date on your Companies House record. For a sole trader it's your first invoice or your first customer. We'll ask for one or the other on the call, and that's the only check.

What happens after the first year?

You choose. Keep all three at the normal monthly prices, which come to £248 a month for one person. Keep one or two. Or stop. We'll send you the year's numbers a month before, so you can decide on what actually happened. Nothing renews without you saying so.

Is there really nothing else to pay?

£250 plus VAT for the year, paid once. Signal includes 200 minutes of calls a month. If you get busier than that, extra minutes are billed at the rate on signal.macaws.ai. Another person in the Nexus inbox is £50 a month. That's the whole list.

Can I pay monthly instead?

No. It's one payment for the year, and that is how we can make it £250. If you'd rather pay monthly, the three tools are on the main site at their normal prices.

What if I close the business during the year?

Tell us and we switch everything off. There's no refund on the year, but there is nothing further to pay and no notice period.

How quickly can I be live?

Usually a week from the setup call. Signal is often answering the same afternoon. Nexus and the Google profile take a few days because we check them with you first.

Do I need a website?

No. Signal learns your business from what you tell us on the call, and your Google Business Profile becomes the page people find. If you do have a website, Signal reads it too.

Can I keep the number I've just got?

Yes. You point it at Signal, all the time or only when you can't answer, and you can point it back whenever you like. If you don't have a number yet, we give you one.

Tell us about the business you've just started.

We'll check you qualify, book the 20-minute setup call and send one invoice for £250. A week later the phone is answered, every customer is kept and you're on Google. If you'd rather talk first, book the call and we'll do the form together.
